A rich, buttery caramel dip that’s perfect for pairing with apple slices, pretzels, or drizzling over desserts. This creamy, sweet dip has a hint of vanilla and optional warm spices, making it a cozy treat for any occasion.

Serves: 6–8 people | Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or apple pie spice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter

    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  2. Add the brown sugar

    • Stir the brown sugar into the melted butter and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Incorporate the cream

    • Slowly pour in the heavy cream, whisking continuously until fully combined.
    • Let the mixture simmer gently for 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens.
  4. Add vanilla and salt

    • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
    • Taste and adjust the salt or vanilla to your liking.
  5. Cool slightly

    • Remove from heat and let the caramel butter dip cool slightly.
    • It will thicken as it cools but should still be smooth and dip-friendly.
  6. Optional spice additions

    • If using cinnamon or other spices, whisk them in after removing the mixture from heat.
  7. Serve

    • This dip can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
    • It pairs well with sliced apples, pretzels, or any other dippable treats.

Tips

  • Storage: Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat gently before serving if it becomes too thick.

  • Secret Ingredient: Adding a small splash of bourbon or rum enhances the depth of flavor and makes for an extra indulgent dip.

  • Serving Suggestion: Drizzle over vanilla ice cream or warm pancakes for a decadent twist.
